Ford to launch Shelby GT350 model in 2016, Mach 1 returning as well

Last week we reported that Ford might be dropping the Shelby GT500 in favor of the SVT Cobra for the next generation Mustang, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Shelby name will be disappearing from the Ford lineup. According to our sources inside Ford, the company will introduce a Shelby GT350 model for 2016, a year after the next generation Mustang is launched for 2015. The big news is that the car will be an official Ford factory model, similar to the current Shelby GT500, and unlike the current …

2013 Shelby GT350 reviewed by Autoblog

The 2013 Shelby GT350 was recently reviewed by Autoblog.com, and for the most part the verdict seems is pretty positive. The web site raves about the GT350′s performance, saying “this Shelby is bloody quick. Under the right conditions (limiting wheelspin is the greatest obstacle), this green beast will effortlessly crack the 60 mph benchmark in under four seconds. Few public roads can tolerate its top speed.” They were also impressed with the car’s handling abilities. “Few would call any Mustang small and nimble, but …

Video: Watch a Shelby GT500 blow up a dyno

Normally when we show you a video of a dyno run, it usually consists of a Ford Mustang making prodigious amounts of horsepower and torque. Not so much with this one. The footage shows a 2007-2009 Shelby GT500 Convertible hooked up to the dyno, and at first everything seems to be going well. Then, inexplicably, the dyno explodes, sending sparks everywhere and the Shelby crashing awkwardly to one side.
We’re not exactly sure what went wrong, whether the Shelby was making too much power (unlikely), the dyno was set up incorrectly, …

One-off 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake sells for record $1.3 million at Mecum

Back in March we told you about a one-of-one 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake that would be crossing the block at Mecum’s Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis, and now the results are in. The very special Shelby commanded a high bid of $1.3 million (plus a seven percent seller’s commision), making it easily the highest grossing car at the auction and the most expensive Ford Mustang ever sold. Our records indicate that the previous number stood at just under $1 million with the sale of a 1965 Shelby GT350R back …

In fact, they told us that one was already under production.
Fast forward a few months and the first production widebody Shelby 1000 is making its debut …
