Our first Readers’ Rides feature is actually two cars – Rich Trost’s 2012 Mustang Boss 302 and 2001 Mustang Bullitt. Rich is the owner and administrator of www.militarystangs.com and is currently on military assignment, meaning he hasn’t seen his pony cars since May of 2012. The Boss 302 is almost completely stock, save for Ford Racing’s TracKey, although he plans on adding an intake, exhaust system and new wheels. “I love everything that encompasses being in the Boss, from the sounds, the feelings, and the looks you get while driving …

Steeda recently announced their own certified Boss 302 program featuring an extensive list of the company’s suspension components that have been track-tested to perform as a comprehensive package. The Boss 302 Laguna Seca is already a very capable track car, but if there’s any company that can take the car to the next level it’s Steeda. The Florida-based company has won multiple road racing championships over the past two decades and have put that experience into the 2013 Laguna Seca on display at the Nitto Tire booth that features a plethora of performance upgrades. The engine has been given a light makeover with a Steeda cold air intake, Boss 302 intake manifold and Steeda’s very own tune, but …

If the sight of a vintage Ford Mustang Boss 302 gets your heart fluttering, then you definitely need to check out this video from Portland filmmaker Cody Liesinger simply titled “The Boss”. Mixing beautifully cut scenes of his father’s all original Bright Yellow 1970 Boss 302 with historic footage of Parnelli Jones’ legendary championship-winning race car, the video either reminds you of why you own your Mustang or why you want to own a Mustang. We’re not sure if Liesinger plans to do any more short films with the car …

We have a fondness for the Forza Motorsport franchise, not only for its realistic driving physics but for the incredible of selection of cars and racetracks. If we did have one complaint, though, it’s that there’s a shortage of Ford Mustangs, particularly late model ones. In the latest variant of the game, Forza 4, there is a decent amount of classic Mustangs including the ’65 Coupe, ’70 Boss 429 and ’71 Mach 1, and thankfully all of the Cobra R variants (’93, ’95 and ’00) are included as well. As …

One of the coolest features of the 2012-2013 Mustang Boss 302 is the quad exhaust system that utilizes two additional exhaust pipes that break off from the main system, exiting out just ahead of the rear wheels and resulting in a truly unique sound. Ford even allows owners of the Boss 302 can also change the aggressiveness of the exhaust note by adding or removing restrictor plates in front of the side pipes.
Unfortunately this requires crawling under the car and unbolting the pipes, which doesn’t take much time but can …

If you can’t afford a genuine Ford Mustang Boss 302 then you might want to consider going smaller – 1/16 to be exact. In late 2010 Traxxas announced that they would be producing an officially-licensed RC replica of the Boss 302 featuring full time AWD, a fully adjustable suspension and a Velineon 380 or Titan 550 motor (we don’t know what that means exactly, but we’re sure you RC guys do). The car doesn’t necessarily have the same detail or proportions as a standard scale model replica, but that’ s …

Every August thousands of muscle cars and hot rods gather in Detroit for the annual Woodward Dream Cruise, and the Ford Mustang plays a huge role in the event with its own area known as Mustang Alley. Hundreds of Mustang owners converge on the Motor City for the event, making for one of the largest gathering of pony cars on the planet. This year looks to be one of the largest yet, with more than 700 Mustangs expected to attend.
Ford plays a very active role in Mustang Alley, part of …

On paper the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 may not look like it’s much different than the 2012 model, and in all honesty it’s the truth. The exterior design has been tweaked, the graphics package changed, and a few options have been added to the interior. Even so, out of all the 2013 Mustang lineup the Boss 302 sets itself apart visually the most of any model from the previous year. This was no more evident when we had the opportunity to check out a School Bus Yellow Boss 302 at …

Today Ford Racing Performance Parts announced that its TracKey calibration will be available for the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 starting on May 1st. In case you don’t remember, TracKey is a 50 state legal aftermarket engine performance software upgrade for the 2012 Boss 302 and Laguna Seca. Designed to optimize Boss 302 for track use, TracKey uses many of the same software algorithms and features employed in some of Ford Racing’s turn-key race car such as the Boss 302R, Boss 302S, and Cobra Jet. In addition, TracKey also allows owners …
