Photo Gallery: One-off Hagerty Fantasy Bid 2013 Shelby GT500

Before Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction started last week we told you about a custom 2013 Shelby GT500 that would be given away by SPEED TV as part of their Hagerty Fantasy Bid Competition. All you needed to do to get a chance at winning the car was simply enter the contest, and SPEED would randomly pick a winner from the entrants. The contest has since come and gone, but not before we tracked the car down in the auction tent and snapped some photos of it.
Built by the Ice Nine Group …

Photo Gallery: Shelby GT Widebody

Last month we reported that Shelby had launched a new widebody kit for the 2005-2009 Mustang, allowing owners to add an extra six inches to the rear and three inches to the front of their cars. The kit includes front and rear fenders constructed of high-quality fiberglass, 20×10 front and 20×13 rear wheels and 265/35/R20 front and 345/35/R20 rear tires. In total, the package will set you back $17,995.
At the time we only had a handful of pictures of the widebody package, but now we’re happy to say that we …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: Ford Mustang Wrap-Up

Barrett-Jackson’s 2013 Scottsdale auction has officially wrapped up, and for fans of the Ford Mustang it was one of the best in the event’s history. Literally dozens of incredible Mustangs crossed the block, both vintage and late model, many well into the six figure range. Highlighting the cars we’ve featured over the last few days are the two charity cars from Ford – a custom white 2013 Shelby GT500 and the one-off 2013 Shelby GT500 Cobra tribute car, high-dollar vintage muscle like the 1/4 million dollar 1969 Boss 429, survivor …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: Ring Brothers 1965 Ford Mustang “Producer” goes for $286,000

Our last featured Mustang from the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction is the famous “Producer” 1965 Mustang built by the Ring Brothers. We first saw this stunning machine at the SEMA show in 2011, and like other cars built by the company, we were completely smitten with the incredible craftsmanship and quality of the build. We weren’t the only ones – after SEMA, Producer went on to win the Goodguys “Street Machine of the Year” award. Those credentials added up to a final selling price of $286,000, the second highest Mustang of …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 sells for $275,000

After seeing this stunning 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 cross the block at Barrett-Jackson, we’ve come to the conclusion that the king of Ford’s muscle cars looks best in black – Raven Black to be specific. Just 93 examples were painted in this color, making it even more rare than the usual bright colors the Boss 429 came in, and the car looks downright menacing when cloaked in inky darkness. Apparently at least a couple bidders agreed with us, as the $275,000 final selling price for the car is the …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: Very first 1967 Shelby Mustang nets $165,000

There’s something to be said about being first, and as far as collector cars go, being a first means also being more desirable. That’s why we had our eye on this Shelby GT350, which has the claim to fame of being the very first 167 Shelby Mustang built – of either model. The GT350 served as the show car for the LA Auto Show in 1966 and features several unique, hand-built parts not used on the rest of the production models. Amazingly, the car still retains many of its original …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: Low mileage, all original 1966 Shelby GT350 sells for $247,500

After watching numerous Ford Mustangs cross the auction block this year Barrett-Jackson we started to notice a new trend: survivor cars are in. Perhaps kicked off by the $385,000 sale of the 1965 Shelby GT500 “Barn Find” last year, original and unrestored cars seem to be all the rage in 2013. This 1966 GT350 was the fourth high-profile unrestored Mustang to be sold and comes with just 21,000 miles on the clock and full documentation from Ford and Shelby. The Raven Black paint and lack of stripe add to the …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: Low mileage 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 survivor sells for $247,500

One of three Boss 429 Mustangs for sale this year at Barrett-Jackson, this particular example set itself apart by having just 13,000 miles on the odometer. For the most part the car is original including the paint and drivetrain, and it comes with extras like a Deluxe Marti Report, a copy of the window sticker, the original dealer card and the owner’s manual. Another cool fact about the car – the original owner was just 17 years old and needed his mother to sign for the title since he was …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: Low mileage, original 1967 Shelby GT500 sells for $192,500

After an all-original 1965 Shelby GT350 “Barn Find” sold for an incredible $385,000 at last year’s Barrett-Jackson auction, we had our eye on this 1967 Shelby GT500. In a similar, all-original and unrestored condition and just 9,508 on the odometer, the car was ripe for a bidding war. That didn’t quite happen, though, and while the $192,500 final selling price is certainly impressive, it didn’t quite match up to the GT350 sale the previous year. Regardless of the car’s value, we hope the new owner keeps it in its original …

Barrett-Jackson 2013: 1965 Shelby GT350 once owned by Ford sells for $242,000

The past ownership of a car is just one of many factors that determines a car’s value, and for this particular 1965 Shelby GT350, its previous owner had a lot to do with its final selling price of $242,000 at Barrett-Jackson. Starting life as a race car, the GT350 was purchased by Ford in 1981 and used for their Performance Heritage Tour that went across the country. Afterwards the car was put on display in the Henry Ford Museum, then went to various collectors. Adding to the car’s appeal, the …
